What an amazing build! How does it do size-wise for two wolverines? They would need about 650 square meters iirc. It's difficult to just eye-ball the size of your habitat of course, but it looks like it would be a bit smaller than that?

Dairy farms would be great. Get milk and later make one of your houses to produce Cheese. Lakes, Rivers and Ponds should really be there. Later fishing and boats, build bridges etc. Water mills and all. Lot of potential.

Rudi just so you know, this is my comfort series. I’ve been a fan for years now and every night before bed I watch this series. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it. I think I’ve seen every zoo you’ve built but I always come back here.

i hear a lot about peoples opinion on what Challenge mode should be (which fair i love challenge mode) but at the end of the day im a sandbox gal, and i want more people talking about what JWE3 could offer for sandbox

I am just going to play devils advocate, cause that is what I do. The 4 meter rule is dumb. Coasters are not smooth, have you ever been on one? Have you ever watched a first person view or a even a camera mounted to the seat view, its not smooth. All the coasters in the game where people went to extreme lengths to make them smooth look unreal to me. I guess it would be very limiting to what you can do with a track if you only worked in 4 meter increments. But if you use different lengths you get different types of movement. So, when you add it all together you have infinite possibilities. So, again, this is why the 4 meter rule is dumb. You limit your possibilities to obtain something that is not even realistic. Don't get me started on parking lots, if I wanted to make parking lots I would get Planet Parking Lot. And, to me, a theme park in this game looks just as real with or without a parking lot. And all this does it take away resources you can do in the park. But the only thing in this video where I was like yes, was one way paths. I still don't understand why that is not in the game yet, or even in Planet Zoo. The que line is already a one path. But I think it has to do with how pathing works. All the main path is considered traversable area, it's all one unit. The que path breaks that traversable area into a one way to the ride. The could do that with a one way path, though so I don't get that. Things I am not asking for, because I believe they are given and one of the only reasons why new games get made. It will look better and it will run better, and most likely the interface will be a little bit better. Kind of like how Planet Zoo is just a little bit better at all things they do, Planet Coaster will probably take that and add even a little more to make things better. So, I am not asking for that. Because if they are not doing that already, then why are they making a new game. Park management doesn't have to go that extreme. My favorite park management game was Theme Park, which I had on the 3DO. What I want in the game. Is what I see when I go to an amusement park. And, they do quite a bit of that already. 1. Arcade 2. Carnival Games 3. Music - Live Music and Performances 4. More Themed Characters, Lot's more! 5. Water Park 6. Mini Golf 7. Pictures, when you first get to the park, and then after you get off rides. ...any many more things similar Technically what I wish they could do, is what Little Big Planet did. You could make something in LBP and it could be 40 pieces, but once you combined them together to make one thing those 40 pieces would no longer equal 40 and only equal 1 piece. So, like when you build in Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo, and make these building with 500 plus pieces, you combine it all together to be just 1 piece, which would give a lot of the resources back to the computer, to make even bigger and better parks. Back to the tracking again, 4 meters is dumb, don't forget it, and anyone telling you otherwise is making you lose so much possibilities in your coaster creations. Because depending on the length of the track you get different types of slopes. Each length has a different slope. Or more at the apex of where the slop begins. 45% is the same no matter the length, but where the slope begins and ends is different depending on the length.

To me, it are the strange choices the team makes, they seem to dislike creatures like Therizinosaurus (already said they didn't want them) and instead give use 3 rhino's and 2 big cats, while they lack any form of Ankylosaurus, pachycephalosaurus, therizinosaur, Stegosaur. interesting prehistoric animals like Dimetrodon, Titanoboa, Tanystropheus, Megatherium, Megaloceras ect. The choices in the animals they bring to the game is where my problem lies.

This game should've used inspiration from Cities Skylines 1 Pathing and Roadways. I am just getting into planet zoo on console and it is awful dealing with the paths.

Meine englische Grammatik ist nicht die beste, weshalb ich auf deutsch ausweiche. Mein erster Zoo war die Wilhelma in Stuttgart und ist auch der meist besuchte Zoo von mir. Inzwischen war ich für ca 8 Jahren das letzte Mal dort. Das erste Gehege bei dem mir bewusst wurde wie schrecklich wenig Platz die Tiere haben war schon als Kind, als ich bei dem Leoparden Gehege stand und ich feststellte dass der ausßenbreich nur etwas größer als mein damaliges Kinderzimmer war (relativ groß für ein Kinderzimmer, aber für ein Tier natürlich bei weitem zu klein) Inzwischen haben die Primaten in der Wilhelma ein neues Gehege bekommen, so wie auch die elefanten (so mein letzter Stand vom hören sagen her). Das neue Primatenhaus habe ich durch meinen letzten Besuch noch gesehen und finde es nach wie vor zu klein und einfach nur trostlos, meiner Einschätzung nach hat sich von der Größe her kaum etwas getan, die Primaten sind jetzt einfach nur alle in dasselbe Gebäude gezogen. Davon dass die Raubkatzen endlich ein größeres Gehege bekommen, habe ich leider noch nichts gehört. Während meinem Studium bin ich noch sehr oft hingegangen, habe viele Tiere skizziert und sie genau beobachtet und studiert, aber seit dem Abschluss hat es dann rapide abgenommen, weil mich der Anblick nur noch traurig gemacht hat. Durch das häufige dort sein, und das lange aufhalten an einem einzelnen Gehege hat sehr verdeutlicht wie schlecht es die Tiere in Zoos wirklich haben. In Planet Zoo arten deswegen die Gehege auch immer bei mir aus... jedes Tier hat mindestens die dreifache größe wie in den vorgaben angegeben. Es gab auch eine Zeit da machte mir Planet Zoo keinen Spaß mehr, weil ich die Tiere überhaupt erst gar nicht einsperren wollte, aber inzwischen konnte ich mir wieder bewusst werden, dass es nur ein Spiel ist bei dem man seiner Kreativität freien Lauf lassen kann <3 Deswegen würde ich mir wünschen, dass auch wenn es ein stadtzoo wird, darauf geachtet wird, dass die Tiere sich weiter bewegen können, als nur sechs Meter in die eine Richtung und sechs Meter in die andere.

I havent gotten super far in the video yet, but i like the idea Rudi, excited to see where it goes. Zoos have come a long way ethically, but still have a long way to go. I think whats going to be tough at least for me in suggesting unethical things in the past is that I dont really want to see those habitats built haha. If you made the unethical ones first and then did a second episode totally refurbishing them to be aza accredited and even above and beyond standards i think thatd be cool and educational, but its double the work haha.

(And that’s coming from someone who lives in our capital, lol) 😍😍😍 It’s not in the Venlo area, but it might be fun to have some ‘zaanse huisjes’ somewhere? They are really beautiful and cute green wooden houses 😊😊 Can’t wait for new episodes 😍👏🏻

My favorite zoo is Odense Zoo, they’ve done an amazing job at converting the old inconsiderate habitats to fit way more suitable species. My mother experienced the old zoo, back then it was connected to a theme park so you could visit both. She would tell me what each habitat used to house. There’s a rly small but tall building that houses giraffes, I can’t even imagine them in there, since it’s so small, but now it has a medium sized family of monkeys in there :) they look way happier and they’ve made tons of climbing in there. One of the coolest things they have today, is that they have pathways with little platforms around trees leading all the way to the entrance, where red pandas can walk over, and get super close to guests. There’s no fence or anything since the pandas can’t climb over edges well, since they climb face down first, it’s the coolest thing they have, and I haven’t seen anything like it in any other zoo :)

Hey idk who else to ask for help with this: I was trying to make a full-zoo terrain blueprint thats a single huge mountain but whenever I place it the game crashes. I tried cutting it into quarters but got a "save operation failed" error when trying to save it. Do you have a solution or workaround for large terrain blueprints?

Im a bit late to the party for this video, but months later this is still an amazing introduction for new players

The original Los Angeles zoo (called the Griffith Park zoo) was built in the early 20th century and the pictures of it that still exist are incredibly bleak. There's the kind of barred cages I thought only existed in old cartoons. The "improved" enclosures were still just tiny rectangles of unforgiving concrete. It was closed down and replaced by the current Los Angeles Zoo in the 1960s and it's absolutely worlds apart from the first one. They've been continually expanding and upgrading it and improving the habitats as our understanding of animals' needs increases, and it's been a key facility in the conservation of the California condor. The old zoo is now a picnic area and hiking trail, where you can wander around the old enclosures.

I had hoped the next project would be a city zoo - really excited to see your take on the concept! With London Zoo as my main point of reference, something they’ve done many times recently has been converting areas that previously held many species (all the big cats, or dozens of apes and monkeys) to only house one species (lions, and gorillas) - if you know what the areas used to look like, you can still see the bones of the separate enclosures, but they’ve been linked together into one larger space. Could be an interesting concept to explore somewhere to put across the idea of an older zoo changing with the times

My local zoo is very old in the United States. We have a historic Elephant House that held Asian Elephants until I was a teenager, and we (rightly) got rid of them. It was mostly concrete. I was sad but it was long overdue. The space is put to better use now.

It made me immediately think of the huge Leipziger Zoo. Have been there a few times over the years and have seen how much they are changing, how much larger the newer enclosures are and, of course, Gondwanaland. The huge tropical house. And I can for sure say, you captured the vibe perfectly.

If you want to go really horrible, the worst zoo I've ever visited was in Myanmar. Every animal was litterly caged in small, dirty cages.. I think it was in Mandalay. This zoo is much more beautiful! The first zoo I've visited was Dierenpark Amersfoort though! Which I still really love <3

Rudi, you truly amazing😊 Really great work and a great end project of Planet Zoo. This Game deserve this. My first Zoo I visit was Hagenbeck in Hamburg. I liked the Zoo because of the "Eismeer" and because of lots of greenery where you can came down or eat something. So very friendly for families. But the best Zoo I was ever was Hannover. Its really friendly for wheelchair users and has a boattour. But in all of Zoos I was there were mostly lions, icebears and Co which has not much space and I was in lot of zoos😉😊 Im exited to see the next Episode😁

I'm from the US. And when I went to my city zoo as a kid there was a white tiger habitat and it broke my heart. It sat in the middle of path ways and was so small it had enough room to walk a few paces and lay down. That was it. And all that was separating the tiger from us was a chain link fence.
